September 29th
Monthly theme:  God has a plan for me.

Announcements:

  • This is the last Sunday for this month's theme: God has a plan for me.   In October we will have a new theme and scripture!
  • This Sunday is preschool parent preview where I invite parents to come join their children in preschool worship with me at 9 and 11:15 am....FYI for you!

Curriculum:  Lesson5 of 5  : I am part of God's plan.  Joseph shares the food he saved with people and his brothers.

September Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions.  They really do learn it!  (click here for the motions.)  "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. "  Jeremiah 29:11 I have been rephrasing it just a bit saying:  "I have a plan for you, says the Lord."

Prayer time- #1 in our top 10:   Don't forget about prayer time sometime in the hour! Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.

Bible Story:  (found under Make it True) The way they tell the story in the curriculum is great.  Bring some bags of rice as props and maybe use the Bible story review pictures, that are located right under week 5 on the website, to help tell the story.
  • The main theme I am communicating in worship:  God had a plan for Joseph and God has a plan for you.  Joseph knew and trusted  God was always with him.

Activities  My favorites for this week:
  • Pass the rice:  make teams and race each other?  Let me know if you need some rice to play this game.  You might bring a bowl from home if you have one!  Lunch bags filled with rice would work for passing and pouring.
  • Joseph's Story-This is a great Bible story review.  I have all the activity cards printed out and you could have kids put them in order and glue them down or staple them together and put in a baggie with parent card.
  • Share Bag- If you are interested in doing this project keep your receipts and I can reimburse you.
  • Group Hug- Easy game-no props needed, could also stop and shake hands with someone instead of hugging.  Might use hand sanitizer at the end of the game!
  • Map the words-Memory verse activity where children can cut and paste.  I am happy to print this out in color for you!

Bible Story:  (found under Make it True) We are still traveling through the stories of Joseph, which is being told over the whole month. This week you will be telling about Joseph and how the king selected him to help understand his dreams.  Joseph was able to tell the king to save grain(food) for the future.  The king was grateful and put Joseph in charge of all his people.  (I found a great story in a children's Bible that I will email you.)
  • The main theme I am communicating in worship:  God had a plan for Joseph and God has a plan for you.  Joseph knew and trusted  God was always with him.

Activities  My favorites for this week:
  • Sweet dreams- You could use a timer on a smart phone and have the kids wake up and share a dream.  Easy-No Propls.
  • Verse on a string- This is a fun easy craft that emphasizes the scripture or "remember verse" for the month. Let me know if you like this and I will get out the supplies.
  • God's Plan- this is a cut and paste worksheet activity shows kids what they can do as part of God's plan.
  • Amy's own game "Hide and Seek for Food"- Hide some of the play food around the room. Have the children find food and put it into a basket in the center of the room. Tell them they gathered the food just like Joseph said and they are ready to store it....Blue room leaders-if you need pretend food I can get it for this room, since you don't have a kitchen set.  I have baskets in the resource room.

September 15th
Monthly theme:  God has a plan for me.

Announcements:
  • I know security tags have been frustrating.  I'm sorry.  The system has been unreliable and we are working on it.  Remember to use the hand written tags in the black binders if parents don't have anything.
  • Look for your personalized name tags in the front of the black binders that you can  wear each week!  Thank you for the idea Lana!
  • Also, look for the weekly "lesson overview" stickers in your room to put on your kids' backs each week.  This keeps parents connected to what's going on !

  • login name:  fishleader     password: jesus

This week:  Lesson 3 0f 4 : God has a plan for my family. God talks to Joseph.

September Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions.  They really do learn it!  (click here for the motions.)  "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. "  Jeremiah 29:11

Prayer time- #1 in our top 10:   Don't forget about prayer time sometime in the hour! Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.

Bible Story:  (found under Make it True) We are still traveling through the stories of Joseph, which is being told over the whole month. This week you will be telling about Joseph arriving in a new land and working for the king Potiphar.  After someone lied about him he got thrown in jail.  But God still had a plan for him.   I will have Bible pictures in your rooms again that you can use to supplement your story telling. The story can be told very SIMPLY!

Activities  Thoughts on this weeks' activities: Lots to choose from.

  • Jail time- Kids would like this game...just have to keep it a bit in control.
  • Joseph's story-This activity would let them sequence the story.  Could be done after story telling time.  I might suggest gluing the story cards on construction paper.  Then they could color it, etc.
  • Joseph's Puzzle-This is also a cute craft.   You could cut out ahead of time and bag them, then let them assemble in class.  Or you could let them color it in class and cut it then put it back together.  It's always good to have a master copy they can look at.
  • Dot to Dot- I love this activity as it requires listening.  It ties in with the story in that we have to listen for God in our life.  He has a plan for us.

  • Look for your personalized name tags in the front of the black binders that you can  wear each week!  Thank you for the idea Lana!

Bible Story:  (found under Make it True) During the whole month of  Sept. we will travel through the story of Joseph.  Each week they introduce more pieces of the story.  This week you will be telling about Joseph's large family, sharing how God spoke to Joseph in a dream, and finally revealing that Joseph's brothers didn't like him and sent him away.  I will have some Bible pictures in your rooms that you can use to supplement your story telling.

Activities  Thoughts on this weeks' activities: Lots to choose from.
***NOTE: On the  orange curriculum 3's-5's section there is an icon after week 4 that says "Bible Story Review" pages.  A few of the activities reference these.  You can print them off to use.
  • Big Family- This is a matching game you could play at tables or you could play on a wall or white board as a large group.
  • I love my family- a dress up game.  You would have to bring some of this from home.
  • Joseph's Family-make a family tree.  I would skip the painting.  We have brown butcher block paper and green butcher block paper where you could make your own tree during the hour.  I am happy to copy and cut hearts and the star if you need.  We have red cardstock paper.
  • My family tree- This is also a fun activity where kids could make their own family tree.
