August Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"God's way is perfect." Psalm 18:30 click here for scripture motions.

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer about their personal requests.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True )This week's story is about Naaman.  Should he "do this or that?"  Naaman had spots all over his body and his servant girl suggested that God could heal him and Naaman just needed to go see Elisha.  When Namman did Elisha said that he should dip 7 times in the river and he would be healed.  Naaman didn't want to.  He said "no way."  Finally he agreed.  When he did what God said-dip in the river-he was healed.  I will have a children's Bible or a Big story book available if you would rather use that .  You can use props-band-aids for sores, etc.

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun)

GAMES:
  • 7 Times-no props needed
  •  Cans and Clothespins-we have all the items for this.
  • Jump in/Jump out-fun, easy game that reinforces the seven times.
 TABLE ACTIVITIES:
  •  Right or wrong-love this kind of activity because it makes it real for the kids.  Should I do this?  or that?
  • Coloring sheets-I will put in your room usually every week.
I think the cup/craft activity looks hard to do, but you can modify and not paint the cup, etc.  See what you think.

August 23rd,  God knows what is best for me.

Announcements:
  •  What a great first week.  Hope you all had fun!  It's nice to take it slow the first few weeks.  Don't worry about getting lots done at first.  The children are getting adjusted and relationships being built.
  • We won't start music for a few more weeks, so we can get settled.
Curriculum:  Week 2 of 3: August theme:  God knows what's best for me. Story this week:  Jonah.  Jonah didn't listen to God, but God knew what was best for him and God know's what's best for me.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True )This week's story is about Jonah.  I will have a children's Bible or a Big story book available.  The story in the curriculum is straight forward.  I would keep the story simple.  You could also print a few pictures and use those to tell the story.  See the activity Rock and Row for a fun way to tell the story.  We have lots of blue tape we can use.

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun)

GAMES:
  • Far and Away-no props needed.  EAsy game where you move from one side of the room to the other.
  • Fish in the Bucket-we have bean bags and small buckets we can get for you.
 TABLE ACTIVITIES:
  •  Fish puzzle-easy craft that I think the kids would like-- Put a fish together!
  • This or That-children match up activitis that go together.  See activity sheet.

August 16th,  God knows what is best for me.

Announcements:
  • Looking forward to kicking off this week.  I will have activities prepared, so if you read over the Bible story from the curriculum you will be ready to go.
  •  Please arrive around 9:55 as families may be early on this first Sunday.
  • Since this is the first week and some kids will be getting adjusted it would be fine to have a smaller amount of "lesson time."  If you gather for Bible story time and then do an activity or two that will be great.
  • Spend some time getting to know children and letting them know you will be seeing them lots this year.
  • I will also have coloring sheets available in each fish room.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True )This week's story is about how "God's way is perfect and God knows what is best for me."  The story is Adam and Eve and how they ate the fruit God told them not to eat;  because of that God sent them out of the garden.  They were sad.  If they had listened to God they wouldn't be sad. I will have some pictures printed out and a snake and apple for props.

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun)
  • Tending the garden-nothing needed. (could gather children and do this game, like a simon says and then tell them "let's sit down and hear a story from the Bible where there is a garden."  )
  • This or that-I will have the game cards printed out for you-see my comments above about BFF hearts.  This looks like a great group craft you could do easily on a day that you have music.   Could do this as a group maybe at the end of story time.
  • Coloring sheets-many girls like to do this during arrival time or at the end.
