April 7th, Lesson 1 of 4....
Monthly theme:  Jesus wants me to tell others about Him. This is a new theme for April.

 This week:  Lesson 4 of 5 :Jesus came to be our friend.  Triumphal Entry.  
 
April  Scripture: "Go and make disciples of all nations." Matthew 28:19..  Remember to review the scripture with the children each week (motions are in the curriculum under make it true section.)

Bible Story:  (found under Make it True)This is an easy story.  See the activity Shout it from the mountain top in the make it stick section....to do while telling the story.

Activities (Make it fun, Make it stick): thoughts on a few I liked....
  • Pass it on-No props for this one.  Practice telling others something in their ear.  Old-fashioned telephone game.
  • Listen up-Make a megaphone. There is construction paper in the resource room. Janet could help you copy the labels onto a sticker page.  We have label sheets
  • Postcards-This is a really cute and easy craft.  We have fun foam stickers in the supply room and kids can color and decorate these cards to give away!
  • Forever Friend-This might just be a fun activity to play.  A few pieces of construction paper are the only supplies you will need.    
Prayer time: Gather in prayer sometime throughout the morning! Ask the kids what you can pray about!

March 24th, Lesson 4 of 5....
Monthly theme:  Jesus wants to be my friend forever!
Last lesson of the month.
 
Announcements:
  • There will not be 10am Small group on Easter Sunday!  Worship the Lord with gladness for He has risen! Come to worship at 8, 9:30, or 11am.  There will be programming in rooms for birth-5 year olds/PreK.  All elementary children will worship with their families.  There will be special activities in the service for elementary kids.

 This week:  Lesson 4 of 5 :Jesus came to be our friend.  Triumphal Entry.  
"Wow" is the theme this month as we share how amazing Jesus is...he healed peopled, helped them, and ultimately died for us and was resurrected.  The preschoolers may be really learning about the Easter story for the first time. WOW!!
 
March Scripture: "I am with you always." Matthew 28:20..  Remember to review the scripture with the children each week (motions are in the curriculum under make it true section.)

Bible Story:  (found under Make it True)Jesus triumphal entry. Check out the props for the story.  We have a large box of fabric in the supply room.  I can bring palm branches to your room for you.  We will be using palms in the 8:45 and 11:15 am services. 
Activities (Make it fun, Make it stick):
Before the story: 
 The frog parade, royal walk, or choo-choo train would all be fun activities to do before the story, introducing the concept of parades, celebrations, etc.  Maybe some of you have dress up stuff from home you could bring. 
After the story:
            Yay Jesus:  If you want to make palms we have green paper I can copy the  palms     for you. You might also glue,staple, or tape to a popsicle stick.
            Donkey puppets: We have paper sacks and the kids might enjoy cutting out their donkey face.
            Clothespin Donkey:  This is really different and looks cute.  We have the clothespins to do this craft as well. 
            Secret Message: This is like our old telephone game.  You can whisper the scripture and then see if it makes it all the way around the circle.  The scripture is easy this week.

The curriculum guides you through a very interactive telling of the story...kids counting, etc.
 
Activities: Thoughts on some of the activities:
  • Red light, green light:  might be fun to go to the gym and play this game...
  • Name that sound:    You could bring any instruments or sounds from home.  I have rhythm sticks, bells, and egg shakers you could borrow as well.  
  • Don't speak:  Take a small tour outside the room and try this game.  
  •  Song Detective: Bring a favorite kids song cd from home and try this game.  If you don't have a CD let me know.  I could come up with something for you.
Craft: 
  • Listening ears : Make a set of ears using paper plates and pipe cleaners.  We have all the supplies for this craft!
Prayer time: Gather in prayer sometime throughout the morning! Ask the kids what you can pray about!

Bible Story:  (found under Make it True) Four friends lower their friend through the roof to get to Jesus.  You can tell the story or use a Bible book if you want.  
 
Activities: Thoughts on some of the activities:
Good for before the story:
  • Shake a leg:  fun movement activity emphasizing how much we use our legs!
  • Carry the baby:     love this game...as it emulates what it was like for the four friends to lower their friend thru the roof.  Could use the hallway space if you need to play this game. 
  • Check out the cute song in Friendly help even if you don't do the activity. 
After the story: 
  • Story page  : an easy way to review the story and then children can take it home. Use some simple "in the tray" watercolor paints....We have them in the supply room. 
  • My injured foot: Use toilet paper to wrap kids up...might be fun for those who want to try.  Friends can help injured person walk around the room.
Prayer time: Gather in prayer sometime throughout the morning! Ask the kids what you can pray about!
