Monthly theme: Jesus is a good friend.

Announcements:

  • This is our last week! Wow,  I can't believe how fast time has gone.  Thank you, thank you for all you have done.  The kids are growing like weeds and soaking in all you share with them. You have showered God's love upon them!

Curriculum:  Week 3 of 4:

May Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"My God will meet all your needs"  Phillipians 4:19

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True) The story of Abraham.  God has a plan for Abraham even when he didn't know where he was going.  I have a big book that you can use to read from.

Activities: (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) comments about some of the activities:

Game/activities:

  • The plan-This is basically making an obstacle course.  You could modify to your liking.
  • My needs-game with a ball.  The children substitute their names in the memory verse.
  • Putting Pieces together- This is a great activity to put together the order of the story.  You mix around the cards and they help put the story in order.
  • The Way Home- a maze worksheet

May 12 th, 2014
Monthly theme: Jesus is a good friend.

Announcements:

  • Only a few more weeks left!  We have been combining rooms lately for various reasons-smaller classrooms, teacher needs, etc.  So this Sunday if we combine the blue and green fish BLUE will be the room where we go and will be the LEAD teaching team.  So green, review the lesson and have some things in mind, but you may not have to teach.  Hope that makes sense!

Curriculum:  Week 3 of 4:

May Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"My God will meet all your needs"  Phillipians 4:19

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True) We missed last week's story about Elijah, but this week's story is a good one.  You could use some of the activities to help tell the story.  Or bring some props-flour etc. and show the kids how the bowl of flour would never be empty.

Activities: (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) comments about some of the activities:

Game type activities:

  • I can help-I have a variety of different hats kids could put on and pretend to tell everyone who they are-fire fighter, construction, doctor/etc.
  • How can I help-easy game...might need some prompting to help them think of the ideas.
  • Sensory Bin-modify this by putting items in a bag(like a Kroger recyclable bag) and have them reach in and guess by feeling.
  • Don't drop it.- We have a parachute.

Craft type activities:

  • Fresh Bread-We have play-doh and kids could make their own loaves of bread.
  • Making Play doh-If you have some extra prep time, this could be fun to do.  I could make recipe labels for the bag for you.

Monthly theme: Jesus is a good friend.

Announcements:

  • This week is a "serve sunday" week, where all children at CCUM will participate in service projects. What does this mean for you?:
    •   Please take the children to the fellowship hall and be seated by 10:15.  Tammy and I will stay around and bring stragglers.  Probably need to leave the room at 10:12 or so.  They will watch a video. You will stay with them.
    • Return to the room and do  craft provided by and led by "Serve Sunday leaders."  This will take 10-15 minutes.
    • Plan to present the Bible story  (maybe while you have snack?) and prepare only (1) activity in case you have time. I would suggest not a craft, since they will already be doing that.  See my comments below.
  • We are in the second week of  new unit this month and the theme is " God will take care of me."

Curriculum:  Week 2 of 4:

May Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"My God will meet all your needs"  Phillipians 4:19

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True) The story this is week is simple.  I have a bird puppet you can use and you could bring in some bread or something as a prop.  Great message to share with the kids, and simple.

Activities: (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) comments about some of the activities:
Think about doing some of the activities as a group.

  • Yummy in my tummy -Matching games.  Just need to make some copies.
  • Clothespins and Pom Pom balls-Really cute game. (We have clothes pins and pom pom balls.)
  • Things we need-This is presented as an individual activity but you could do it as a group.  Can mount on poster board and talk about it together.
  • Bowling game- This is also really cute if you would have some 2 liter bottles to spare.  We don't have excess of these at church.  Maybe you have kids bowling pins at home you could use instead.

Monthly theme: Jesus is a good friend.

Announcements:
  • We start a new unit this month and the theme is " God will take care of me."
  • Only a few more weeks left.  Please text me if you have needs!  See you Sunday.

Curriculum:  Week 1of 4:

May Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"My God will meet all your needs"  Phillipians 4:19

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True) The story this is week not a story with lots of action.  It tells us that if Jesus provides for the birds and the flowers, He will provide for us also.  Use the props to tell the story.  I have a bird puppet you can use.

Activities: (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) comments about some of the activities:

  • Growing flowers-No props.  Simple activity, but kids this age love playing pretend.
  • Flying Birds-All you need is tape in this activity.  You might want to move the tables around.  Both the flower and bird games would be fun to do before the story.  See what the curriculum says you should say.  It's good!
  • Memory Verse-See the motions on the activity pages.  THis would be a good time to begin teaching this verse.
Crafts:
  • All dressed up-I can make copies of boys and girls on Sunday morning for this one., depending on who arrives in your classroom.
  • How Many?- THis is a cute activity and I have stickers for birds, flowers, hearts, and stars.  I made a master copy to use, which reduces the number of stickers.  Easy and fun and allows them to work on their counting.
