March 30th, 2014
Monthly theme: Jesus came to do AMAZING things.

Announcements:
  • This is the last week for the theme in March.  April will start a new theme:  Jesus is my friend.
  • I have not heard about any lack of coverage during spring break so I am assuming your teams have it worked out.  I will actually be gone BOTH weekends (Sunday March 30th and Sunday April 6th) taking a trip with my family.  My assistant Tammy will have access to any of the supplies you need.  She can help with copies, etc.

Curriculum:  Week 5 of 5:  Jesus tells everyone they can talk to God.

March Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"The crowds were amazed at his teaching."  Matthew 7:28

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True) To tell the story this week you can use the props mentioned.  You can print a picture of the world and don't need to have an inflatable globe. Talking to God is the theme this week!

Activities: (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) comments about some of the activities:

No need to list everything out this week, as most of the activities are simple and some use a few props you may have around the house.  There are listening games to e the point emphasize the point that God is always listening.  There is a sweet treat memory verse game. (Just choose items that are allergy free and put up a sign.)  It 's a good time to play this game, as most of the children should know the verse at the end of the month.

**Let us pray and Time to Pray-  Love both of these activities as they help teach, "What do we pray to God about?"

We have cardstock and butcher block paper that you can use.  Tammy can make copies for you.

March 23rd, 2014
Monthly theme: Jesus came to do AMAZING things.

Announcements:
  • Thank you all so much for your flexibility last week.  I truly felt like I was in another world for a few days.  I am grateful to be at my desk doing normal work this morning!
  • Please let me know if you all have any lack of coverage during the weekends on the front and back of spring break. I will actually be gone BOTH weekends (Sunday March 30th and Sunday April 6th) taking a trip with my family.  So, this week and next I will be doing lots of planning.

Curriculum:  Week 4 of 5:  Jesus calls his friends to help him.

March Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"The crowds were amazed at his teaching."  Matthew 7:28

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True) This week the story is  about Jesus choosing the disciples.  It is an easy story to tell.  You could actually do one of the activities called  "Jesus' Friend"  to tell the story.  There are some picture cut outs to use, etc.

Activities: (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) comments about some of the activities:

There are lots of games this week and not many crafts!  One idea would be to go to the gym and play a few of them there.  Sometimes an elementary class uses the gym, but we can coordinate on Monday morning and you all can be down there for 15-20 minutes.  There aren't many supplies needed for this week.

 Games:
  • Come over-like a version of Red Rover
  • Follow Me- sort of like a simon says game
  • Verse with friends-this is one of the best "memory verse" games I have seen.  When you get to the middle everyone could say the verse together.
  • Truth toss-We have bean bags.
  • Barrel of Monkeys-If you have this game at home this might be fun.  We don't have this at church.
Crafts:
  • The 12 disciples coloring sheet-This sheet has the children coloring 12 friends inside circles around Jesus.

Announcements:

Curriculum:  Week 2 of 4:  Jesus' Baptism.

March Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"The crowds were amazed at his teaching."  Matthew 7:28

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True) This week the story is about Jesus getting baptized.  A light shone down on Jesus when he was baptized and God spoke as well. We have blue butcher block paper you can use for a prop, mentioned in the curriculum.

Activities: (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) comments about some of the activities:

Let me know what supplies you will need if you need help from me!

Games: lots of good, easy games this week.
  • Ball of Love-easy/just need a ball (we have many.)
  • He is my son-This is a group hide and seek game.Find the father/ son matches around the room.
  • Water play-This would be something different...Do you have a few fun water toys to bring?  We have some containers you could use.
Crafts:
  • Jesus' Baptism: This craft uses paper plates and craft sticks and shows Jesus dipping into the water and then standing up. Click here to see this pinterest page
  • Tracing Jesus' Baptism: This easy one page craft has children tracing blue over the water lines and yellow over the lines of light.  Would be a good filler activity.
