February Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"With God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26  click here for scripture motions.

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer about their personal requests.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True ) The Bible story has plenty of "roles" for the kids to participate while telling the story.  I might even have someone play Jesus, asleep in the boat.  I have plenty of blue plastic paper that can be used for the waves.

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun)-
  • Streamer storm-Fun, easy craft.  We have streamers and craft sticks.
  • Storm bottles: bring in some water bottles and this could be a fun craft.  Let me know if you want me to get you some vegetable oil.  We don't stock this(I won't have Sunday morning), but I can get it if you give me notice.
  • On the Lake: this would be fun to play.  We have a blue sheet and a ball at church.
  • Chalk Picture: kids love chalk and we have black paper and chalk.

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer about their personal requests.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True ) You can follow the curriculum story....or use the following:  1. A children's Bible to read it (bring your own or I have one)  2. Read the attached story I found (click here). I have a blue sheet and ping pong balls.  Bring a toy boat if you have one (we don't have these at church).  I think the kids will like this story.

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun)-
  • Sink or float-we have large bowls you can use...but bring your own props
  •  Crafts: Any of these are good table crafts.
    • Jesus walks on water
    • Paper plate boat
    • Miracle picture
  •  Ocean bags-text if you like this and I will look to see if we have fish stickers.  We definitely have small fish cutouts that you could tape on bags.  .  I already have those ready.  (could possibly use shaving cream and color it blue  with food coloring and then put it in the bags. fill bags with shaving cream...add a drop of food coloring ...seal it and let kids squish it around.... )

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer about their personal requests.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True ) Another easy to tell story this week.  Bring the props to tell it or use a children's Bible if you prefer.  You could incorporate the activities into the story telling.

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun)-
  • Fish in the basket relay-We have been bags and buckets here. (probably enough for 1 bean bag per child depending on how many kids.)
  • Bread and Fish Hunt- I always love seek and find games.  I would use copies of the fish to make it easy and maybe crackers for bread.
  • Fish in the basket-could modify this activity and just decorate a lunch bag and then seek and find items around the room.
  • Basket full of fish-this activity emphasizes how Jesus turned 2 fish into lots more for people to eat.  We have "brads" here at church to connect the baskets.
  • Loaves and fish bracelet-This is also a fun activity.  We can copy the fish onto colored paper and if you bring some pasta from home they could string it together.  We have plenty of yarn here.

February Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"With God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26  click here for scripture motions.

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer about their personal requests.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True ) The story looks complicated this week with the setup, props, etc.; but, I actually think it will  be a fun way to story tell.  Instead of the art setup they recommend you could just use white butcher block paper that we have.  Tape it up to the wall and draw the story as you go.  What fun! The kids will love it.  You also could have the "helper teacher"  draw while you tell it....

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun)-Read through all the activities, because the ones before the story seem complicated and difficult.  The activities later in the lesson are fun.
  • Fish in the Nets-I have a large net that you could use or you could also draw one on Butcher block paper.  You might have kids decorate and cut out their own fish (or mulitple fish).  They love to cut things out!
  •  Ocean streamers-We have mini small fish that can be cut from a die cut machine, (even Sunday morning) and we also have blue tissue paper.
  • Full of Fish-counting and goldfish cracker activity. we always have goldfish at church, so kids may like this activity.
