October 11th,  God loves me.

Announcements:
  • No Music this Sunday.
  • This Sunday is a "serve" sunday for children's ministry.  All children from fish-5th grade will learn about and participate in a service project.  Children will learn about Serbia and a preschool we are supporting. We plan to collect "pennies and change" to purchase peanut butter that will be shipped to them.  Please carve out around 10 minutes for the children to hear a story from a "serve team" member.  They will pass out the information for the preschoolers to take home.  They will be rotating between both fish rooms; so, I appreciate your flexibility in managing your lesson.

Curriculum:  Week 2 of 4: Stories this month:  Oct.4th-God made me; Oct. 11th-The Lost Sheep; Oct. 18th-Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; Oct. 25th-Jesus Calms the Storm.
Theme:  God loves me, God made me, and nothing can separate us from God's love.

October Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"Nothing can separate us from God's love."  Romans 8:39  click here for scripture motions.

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer about their personal requests.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True ) This week's story is the lost sheep.  The curriculum has an interactive way to tell it and you can improvise at your will.  You might just consider hiding a sheep around the room that is the #3 sheep.  I have plenty of stuffed sheep for you to use.

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) Love sheep week!  It is fun and easy and the kids enjoy it!
  • Sally Sheep-a hide and seek game. I have stuffed sheep.
  • Hide the sheep- another hide and seek game.
  • Counting sheep-a counting / memory sheep game with cotton balls
  • Ball of Love-fun game to play after the story that uses each of the children's names.  I love to do these games where the children hear their name.
CRAFT:
  • Story sheep- a traditional sheep craft where the children glue on cotton balls.  I could print out labels to go on the sheet that have the scripture verse or tell the theme.  YOu could also write this on the sheet before copying it.  I can copy it onto cardstock on Sunday morning.

"My God will meet all your needs" Phillipains 4:19. click here for scripture motions.

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer about their personal requests.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True )The story today is about God calling Abraham to pick up and go to a new land.  It is a simple story, but shows the power of trusting God to lead us in our lives.  God has the best plan.  You could bring some traveling props (ie. bag, pillow, things little kids like) and/or you could move around the room while telling the story.  You could even travel around the hallway to different rooms or to the childcare room and back.  Have fun and talk about how God has a special plan for each of them as they grow up.  When we seek God we can know he will be our Guide!

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) Lots of fun ideas for this week:

  • The Plan-Make up your own "mini-obstacle" course instead of following the lessons  method.  You could go under tables around chairs, etc.  There are blocks in room 107 that you all could use.
  • Zig Zag -You could skip the butcher block paper and just put blue tape directly on the floor.  (Tammy will have access to blue tape.)
  • My needs-I love this activity and Tammy will have some soft balls you can use.  Putting the child's name into the scripture is powerful for them to hear.
  • Putting Pieces together-Could use this activity to tell the story or retell or see if kids can put them in the right order after learning about story.  Could do this on the table during snack time.
  • The Way Home-This is a table maze activity.  Easy and fun for kids.

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer about their personal requests.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True )Elijah appears again.  This time in the story God leads him into a town to find a woman who can help provide food.  When he asks her for help she is almost out of flour and oil to make bread;  but, Elijah tells her to make the last loaf and she won't run out of flour and oil.  God always provides.  Probably could use pictures and/or props to supplement your story telling.

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) There are AWESOME activities this week.  Take your pick.  Here are a few thoughts:

  •  I can help song- You can modify this activity with a fun song.  I have many different kinds of hats you can use and sing this song:  The hat are in the middle, the hats are in the middle, take one out and put one on, and see who I become.  I am a _______, I am a _______, I take one out and put one on and see who I become.  i.e. fireman, policeman, coach, etc.
  • How can I help-We have soft balls you can use in this activity.
  • Fresh Bread- You can use the play-doh in the room to make loaves of bread the kids can play with or have for the story.
  • Making Playdoh-This is a cute activity, you may or may not want to do. I have the cards printed out that we can copy and attach if you want.
  • Don't Drop It-We have a parachute you can use if you want.

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer about their personal requests.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True )This week's story is a one we don't hear all the time, (although we did it in VBS this summer) but it's a great simple story.  I still have the bird puppet you can use again.  Also, you might consider printing out a picture of Elijah or a king to give some visuals to the story.

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) There are AWESOME activities this week.  Take your pick.  Here are a few thoughts:

GAMES:
  • Yummy in my tummy-This is a memory match game.  Could be played as a group on the floor.

 TABLE ACTIVITIES:
  •  Things we need-This activity matches pictures on a paper and glueing them down.  Fun and easy--drives home the point of the story.
  • Ravens Feed Elijah-This looks fun.  You would trace the children's hands.  We have fruit loop cereal you could glue down if you want.
  • Feed the Birds-Another fun looking activity.  We have pipe cleaners, and fruit loops cereal, although you could bring Cheerios if you have them at home. (Birds might like cheerios better--although it may be the squirrels eating them.  hahah)

September Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"My God will meet all your needs" Phillipains 4:19. click here for scripture motions.

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer about their personal requests.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True )This week's story is a simple one.  If God will take care of the birds and the flowers, he can take care of me.  The story in the curriculum references some props.  We have a bird puppet if you don't have a stuffed bird (haha) and I will bring some gummy worms for you.

Activities:  (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) Some of the activities are more involved this week, but there are a few simple ones you can do.

GAMES:
  • Growing flowers-no props needed.  Kids pretend they are flowers and you can talk about what God provides us, so that flowers grow.
  •  Racing birds-this might be a fun game to play even flying around the tables and back.  You could also go to the gym and play both the growing flowers and racing birds game.  Maybe you could come up with one more as well.  We can always open the gym.
 TABLE ACTIVITIES:
  •  Birds and flowers-This is a simple activity where the children can color the page and then glue on different color felt flowers that we have.  I also have paint dots markers they can use to decorate.
