May 26th, 2013 ...Last Sunday!
Monthly theme:  I can help others.

Announcements: Today is the last Sunday for our regular leaders!
  • I will be out of town this Sunday! Janet Hagerty and Tammy, my helper, will be around to see if you need anything.
  • There will be supplies in your rooms for filling the food bags.
  • Curriculum link: www.whatisorange.org
  • login name:  fishleader     password: jesus
  • Contact Amy: text or voice:  502-553-9347  email: amy@ccum.net

This week:  Lesson 4 of 4 : We can help each other.  Aaron helps his brother Moses..

May  Scripture:  PLEASE GO OVER SCRIPTURE EACH WEEK.  HAVE CHILDREN REPEAT IT A FEW TIMES!
(motions are in the curriculum under make it true section.)
"Be kind and loving to each other."  Ephesians 4:32

Bible Story:  (found under Make it True) This week is a simple Bible story, although not a mainline one found in your children's Bibles. I will print out some pictures you can  use in telling the story.  Also, you could bring in any figurines, etc. to use in telling the story.

Activities (Make it fun, Make it stick): thoughts on this weeks' activities:
  • Games: Mirror me-a copy cat game you could use as a stretch game.  Children end up with their hands in the air.
  • Activity:  Filling up food bags: The children decorated food bags a few weeks ago.  There will be a basket of food in your room to fill the bags.  Instructions will be included.  This would be a good hands on activity "to be a helper."
  • Crafts:
    • Cut it out:  This activity has the kids cutting out hearts from folded paper.  Could be fun and easy for those who like to cut and paste.  Let me know if you want the labels. You could fold some paper and draw lines for them to follow if free-forming the heart was to hard.
    • Thank you cards:  Children could use white cardstock and make cards for helpers in our community.  Labels could be used to say "Thank you for...." since they might have trouble writing out everything.  Let me know if you want labels.
Prayer time: Gather in prayer sometime throughout the morning! Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.  There are prewritten prayers in the Make it Real section at the very end of the curriculum.

May 12th, 2013 ...
Monthly theme:  I can help others.

Announcements:
  • We will not have any small groups next Sunday, May 19th during the 10 am.   This is commitment Sunday for the capital campaign-9am and 11am services only.
  • There will be supplies in your rooms for a special Mother's day activity that ties into the lesson as well.

This week:  Lesson 2 of 4 : We can help each other.  A woman helps Elisha.

Bible Story:  (found under Make it True) Again, the Bible story this week is not a main line story.  It will be easy to tell and I suggest you bring some props to useMany of the props you could use are right in the room. You could put them in a bag or something and pull them out as you tell the story.  Should be easy!

Activities (Make it fun, Make it stick): thoughts on this weeks' activities: It would be nice to do the Mother's day activity for kids to take home and then pick anything else that would work into the lesson.
  • Games:  Helper Hat GameThis is a fun and easy game.  You could play a few different ways.
  • Crafts:
    • My design room game: This would be fun for the kids and help reinforce the story.  Let me know and I could have some volunteers copy and cut out furniture ahead of time.
    • Mother's Day Craft:  In your room there will be all the materials to make a flower pot out of "hand" die cuts and a styrofoam cup.  This will tie into our theme of "helping hands" and be a cute bouqet to give to a Mom, Grandmother, Aunt, etc. You could do this at the end of the lesson or whenever.
Prayer time: Gather in prayer sometime throughout the morning! Ask the kids what you can pray aboutand lead them in prayer.  There are prewritten prayers in the Make it Real section at the very end of the curriculum.

This week:  Lesson 1 of 4 : We can help each other.  The early church helped each other.

Bible Story:  (found under Make it True) The Bible story this week is a broad topic. It does not specifically reference a certain Bible story.  You could be creative with this if you like.  Maybe you even have a story book of your own that is about helping others.  Think about props to bring, etc.

Activities (Make it fun, Make it stick): thoughts on this weeks' activities:
  • Working together games:
    • Here to There or We can build game:  We have supplies in resource room you could use, blocks in the classrooms, etc.  The kids would enjoy these games.
  • I can help craft/activity-I have plenty of red and white card stock.  We can make copies on Sunday morning even!  This activity looks fun and the kids really enjoy cutting!
  • Decorate Bags of Grace- I will supply you with lunch bags, stickers, etc. for the children to decorate.  We will use the bags to fill with food and put in our baskets around church.  Children will not be filling the bags with the food on this day.  I will have a take home note card explaining to parents that they can pick up a bag of food around the church if they like.
