March 23rd, 2014
Monthly theme: Jesus came to do AMAZING things.

Announcements:
  • Thank you all so much for your flexibility last week.  I truly felt like I was in another world for a few days.  I am grateful to be at my desk doing normal work this morning!
  • Please let me know if you all have any lack of coverage during the weekends on the front and back of spring break. I will actually be gone BOTH weekends (Sunday March 30th and Sunday April 6th) taking a trip with my family.  So, this week and next I will be doing lots of planning.

Curriculum:  Week 4 of 5:  Jesus calls his friends to help him.

March Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
"The crowds were amazed at his teaching."  Matthew 7:28

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.

Bible Story: (found under Make it True) This week the story is  about Jesus choosing the disciples.  It is an easy story to tell.  You could actually do one of the activities called  "Jesus' Friend"  to tell the story.  There are some picture cut outs to use, etc.

Activities: (Make it Stick and Make it Fun) comments about some of the activities:

There are lots of games this week and not many crafts!  One idea would be to go to the gym and play a few of them there.  Sometimes an elementary class uses the gym, but we can coordinate on Monday morning and you all can be down there for 15-20 minutes.  There aren't many supplies needed for this week.

 Games:
  • Come over-like a version of Red Rover
  • Follow Me- sort of like a simon says game
  • Verse with friends-this is one of the best "memory verse" games I have seen.  When you get to the middle everyone could say the verse together.
  • Truth toss-We have bean bags.
  • Barrel of Monkeys-If you have this game at home this might be fun.  We don't have this at church.
Crafts:
  • The 12 disciples coloring sheet-This sheet has the children coloring 12 friends inside circles around Jesus.
