January 26th, 2014
Monthly theme: Jesus can do anything.

Announcements:
  •   This Sunday is a children's SERVE sunday, so all kids preschool-5th grade will be working on a service project.  Serve leaders will be coming into the preschool rooms at 10:15 to ask kids to decorate a poster.  They will then have the kids hold the posters and take a picture.  This should take 10-15 min.  So plan lesson time from 10:30-11am this Sunday
  • Remember to wear your stick on name tags that are kept in the black binder.  It is great for parents to connect a face and a name.
  • I will have stickers to put on kids backs' this week telling about the story they learned Sunday morning.

Curriculum: Lesson 4 of 4 : Walking on water
January  Scripture:  Please go over scripture each week with the motions
(click here for motions.)   "With God all things are possible."  Matthew 19:26.

Prayer Time: #1 in our top 10:   Ask the kids what you can pray about and lead them in prayer.

Bible Story:  (found under Make it True) You might look at the activity called "Boat Ride" to include in your story telling time. This is an easy story.  Again,  I love taping out a large boat on the floor for the kids to pretend to sit in.

Activities: A few highlights of the activities:

Games/Activities:
  • Friendly boat: might play this if you have lots of stuffed animals at home to bring in,
  • It's Possible: A fun easy game...uses the scenario cards in the activity pages.  Good way to show all things are possible with God.
  • Stormy or Calm: Can use the streamers you made as a craft.
Craft:
  • Caught in a storm:  We have the supplies for this in the resource room.  The silver glitter might be a glitter glue stick.
  •  Streamers:  We have streamers and craft sticks, so this would be easy and you can use in telling the story and can play the game:  Stormy or calm.
  • Not in Curriculum: See this fun craft from the think orange pinterest page: Make a sponge boat.  I can pick up sponges for you or you can.  We have straws and sheets of foam to make the sail.
